No Heart

Yesterdays the Celtics loss against the Nets leaves every fan shacking their heads. The Nets who now have six wins on the season, could go down as one of the worst teams in NBA history, if they stay on this path. There is not one Celtics fan who is not shocked, surprised, or mad, since they lost to the Nets on their home court.

So every Celtics fan is wondering, how could this happen? There are a couple of differnt reasons for that. First of all they are not playing with any heart or passion. Yesterday they acted like they didn't even want to be there. Even though Kevin Garnett played one of the best games of his season, the team didn't feed off him, and they normally do. The way the Celtics played yesterday was, our championship hopes are going down the drain, so why bother? Is that what this team is thinking right now? Are they just giving up? I don't think they are, lets hope not. I think they just had an awful game, and they need to recover fast. The Celtics need to take a long look into the mirror, and just rediscover that intensity and passion they use to have, because they are not going anywhere if they cant pull that back out of themselves. Lets all hope the Celtics can recover quickly, because the window of opportunity is closing very fast on this team.

Also there is another thing that us Celtics fans have to do. The fans who went to the game yesterday, and booed, shame on you, because that is the wrong thing to do. Anytime you go to a game, and see them play you should never boo them, even if they are playing bad. The reason why is the Celtics need our help, they need us to support them, so we can help them get out of this hole they are in. Booing them is only going to make it harder on them, yes I know the game yesterday was unacceptable, and you have every right to be mad at them, and you really want to boo them, but they need our help as fans. Are the Celtics going to get out of this hole? We will have to find out soon, and hope they come out of these next games with a lot of anger and passion in there play.

Not Finishing Strong

If I told you that last nights game the Celtics had a thirteen point lead twice against the Cavilers, and had a lead at halftime, and at the start of the fourth quarter, but they still lost, would you believe me? Well there is a good chance you would say yes, because this was certainly not the first time they couldn't finish a game this year. So now we have to start to wonder why this team keeps blowing leads late in the game.

Last night the Celtics looked like two different teams. In the first half they looked like one of the best teams in the NBA, but in the second half they looked like a team that was lost. So people are asking all sorts of questions about why they cant hold on to leads in the second half of games. Is it because they don't have a good team chemistry? Or are they not mature enough? The answer to those question is no, the answer is plain and simply, they are old. That was the only concern at the start of the season, if the team was to old, and that is the problem this team has right now. At the start of the games they look great, there playing with a lot of energy, and looking like one of the best teams in the league. Then there age starts to show, because they get burnt out in the second half, and play bad basketball down the stretch, with zero intensity. They cant knock down shots, and keep up with the other team, when they are playing defense. The other teams in the league know that all they have to do in the first half, is just keep the score some what close, because in the second half they will be able to out score them by a good amount.

I really hope the Celtics can find a way to keep the intensity up start to finish in games, and hold on to the leads they have. If they find a way to close out games, they can be a great team, because that is there only missing piece of the puzzle right now.

A Little To Close

Last night the Celtics beat the Knicks 110-106. Paul Pierce did not play for the Celtics last night because of a thumb injury, but even though Pierce wasn't playing the Celtics still should of had a better game last night. It seemed like the Celtics had no problem scoring against the Knicks, the problem was they couldn't play defense last night. But a win is a win, and that is all that counts.

Last night Nate Robinson made his Celtics debut, and Eddie House played his first game in Boston since being traded. Robinson didn't have a great game, he looked nervous out there, and you can't blame him. He is playing in his first game with his new team, and the teams goal is too win a championship, unlike the Knicks, who have no expectations. Also you can't forget that he didn't have a real practice with the Celtics yet, he and the coaches just went over some plays. In Eddies Houses first game back the fans definitely showed there love for him. The Celtics put together a video of House's career in Boston, and put it on the jumbo tron. All of the Celtics fans who were at the game last night gave him a well deserved standing ovation, and chanted "Eddie Eddie". House then waved to the crowed, and to his old teammates. Next on the Celtics schedule is the Cleavland Cavilers. I heard that Paul Pierce is unlikely to play with his thumb injury, and Marquis Daniels is questionable with the flu. So, if those guys don't play, the Celtics will have there work cut out for them against king James and the Cavilers.

The West Coast Trip

The Celtics opened up the second half of the year by going on a tough four game road trip. They had to play the Kings, Lakers, Trail Blazers, and the Nuggets. The Celtics ended up going three and one on the trip, which was better then most people thought they were going to do. Also they didn't play with newly acquired point guard Nate Robinson the last three games of the trip.

There was a lot of question marks coming out of the all-star break for the Celtics, so it was important that they came from the break playing well, which they did. Ray Allen is playing much better, and that has really helped this team, and Kevin Garnett is starting to play better also, he is looking like he is getting healthy again. Garnett is staring to go on the low post more, which is good because he is more effective when he does that, and its a good sign the knee is feeling better. The only bad thing about this trip is that Paul Pierce hurt his thumb against the Lakers, and is playing really bad with the injury. He should sit out this week, because the Celtics need him to play like he was at the beginning of the season, before he had the knee surgery. It is important the Celtics stay healthy for the rest of the season, because they are starting to get healthier and are looking like a much better team. Doc Rivers is doing a great job this year keeping the big threes minutes down, he needs to continue doing that, so they are not burnt out and tired by the time the postseason comes. Hopefully the Celtics can continue to win, so they can climb up a couple of places in the Eastern Conference, and make a good run in the playoffs.

A Different Player

In the last two games against the Lakers and the Trail Blazers, Ray Allen has looked like a new player. Ray scored twenty four points against the Lakers and twenty one points last night against the Trail Blazers. He is looking like he finally has his shot back. All of his fans have been waiting for him to get into a groove this season, and it looks like it finally might be happening.

Before the last two games Allen wasn't playing well at all; he wasn't knocking down shots he normally would make, and he had more turnovers than he usual. There were a lot of trade rumors about Allen this year, it seemed like every week there was a new one. I think that really affected his play this year, because he might have been afraid he would get traded. Allen loves playing in Boston, he loves his team, the fans, and his family living in Boston. He didn't want to leave all of that, so that affected his game. I mean, he is human after all. Now that the trading deadline has passed, Allen is back to his old self, he is shooting much better, and he is coming off the pick and rolls a lot better. Hopefully he continues to play the way he is playing right now, because the Celtics will really need him to make a championship run.

Shipping Up To Boston

It appears that Nate Robinson is coming to the Boston Celtics. But, we do not know who the Celtics are giving up to the Knicks to get Nate Robinson. I keep hearing that the Celtics are giving up Eddie House, J.R. Giddens, and they might be giving up a first or second round draft pick. Also, I have heard the Celtics might be getting a player from the Sacramento Kings, but don't expect that to be a role player.

If what I am hearing is correct, I like this deal. Nate is a very good player, he can score and he will bring energy to the team, which is good. Nate will be the backup point guard to Rajon Rondo, and the Celtics have needed a good backup point guard this year, he will be an upgrade over Eddie House. The question I have, if this trade ends up happening is, will Nate Robinson's role fit hear in Boston, and can he change his attitude? He didn't have a good attitude with the Knicks. I do think the Celtics will make him fit in the rotation effectively, since he will be around a bunch of veterans, and a great coach, there should be no problem with his attitude. So if this trade gets completed (which it looks like it will), lets see how Nate Robinson does here with the Celtics.

Will The Celtics Make A Trade?

Every Celtics fan right now is wondering if Danny Ainge is going to make a trade. Danny loves to make trades, we all know that, and he has made some great ones in the past, but will he make a big trade this year? The Celtics right now are trying very hard right now to make a move, because they don't feel like they can win a championship with the team they have right now.

The real question is, if the Celtics do make a trade will it be big or small? They have been rumored to be interested in Andre Iguodala, he would help the Celtics because he is young and athletic, and he can drive to the hoop very well, but that would mean Ray Allen would be going to the 76ers, and everybody would miss Ray. If they don't make a big trade and deal Ray Allen, they might make a smaller trade for a backup point guard. There was a rumor last week that they were talking to Charlotte about D.J. Augustin. I would love to see him come to the Celtics because they need a point guard who can come of the bench, move the ball, and score a little. D.J. can do both of those and he is also very young. Yesterday a rumor came out that the Celtics were still very interested in Nate Robinson. I am not the biggest fan of Nate, but he would be a big upgrade over Eddie House, and the Celtics need some one like him. Thursday is the NBA trading dead line, and we will all have to wait and see if Danny Ainge makes any moves at all, and if he does what those moves will be.

It Wasn't Pretty, But They Got It Done

Last nights Bruins game against the Florida Panthers was not the best game the Bruins have played. But the only thing that matters, is that they were able to pull out a win in a shootout, when Mark Recchi put in the game winning goal.

The Bruins are now on a four game winning streak, but they will not be playing for awhile, because they are now on their Olympic break. Some people are mad that the Olympic break is here, because the Bruins are on a role, and this might cool them down. I am actually glad that the Olympic break is hear, when I was watching yesterdays game the Bruins looked tierd. They have played seven games in the last eleven nights, and they looked like they were burnt out last night. Even if they were tired they were able to win the game and are now in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. So now the Bruins have two weeks to rest and relax, and when they come back from the their break, they can continue their winning streak and keep moving up in the standings.

Three In A Row

Don't look now but the Bruins have won three in a row. Last night the Boston Bruins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, with a final score of five to four. The game was a lot closer at the end than it should have been. The Bruins took a five goal lead in the second, but then the Lightning game back and scored four unanswered goals. Micheal Ryder played a great game last night, he scored two goals, and Lucic also scored two goals. Ryder has been playing really well the last couple of games, I think that the trade rumors about him have really motivated him, and he has played much better. The Bruins need Ryder to keep up his good play because you can see the difference in how the team is doing when he is playing well. When he is playing bad they look like a totally different team. Saturday against the Florida Panthers is Bostons last game before the Olympic break. They need to keep playing with the same intensity and confidence as they have been the last three games to win the game against the Panthers. It would be a big win for the Bruins on Saturday because that would put them on a four game winning streak, and they can go into the break feeling good about how they played this past week. Everybody should be happy about the way the Bruins are playing right now, and just hope they can keep it up through out the rest of the season.

Another Bad Loss For The Celtics

Celtics fans have you every thought that maybe the Celtics are just not that good this year? Last night they let another double digit lead slip away in the second half against the Hornets, and ended up losing the game. Yes I know Ray Allen was not playing for the Celtics but Chris Paul was not playing for the Hornets either, and the Celtics are a much better team than the Hornets. I am thinking that maybe the Celtics are not that good, because they continue to let big leads slip away game after game. The 2007 and 2008 Celtics never let big leads go, that is not the case with this years team. The Celtics are becoming old right before are eyes, and they are not the same players as they use to be. They need to take advantage of this up coming all star break, and rest. Paul Pierce should not be taking part in the all star game and three point contest, with his bad ankle. What I think is going to happen, is that Danny Ainge is going to make a trade, there is just to much smoke for there not to be a fire. Celtics fans do not jump of the bandwagon lets see how they do in the second half of the season, and lets see if Danny makes a trade.

Will Julius Peppers Be A Patriot Next Year?

All Patriots fans know that a problem last year for the Patriots was putting pressure on the quarterback. That being said in this years free agency Julius Peppers is a free agent and would help the Patriots out a lot, and the Patriots should take a look at him. Just because they should take a look at him doesn't mean they are going to, he will coast a lot of money and the Patriots don't usually spend a lot of money on free agents. I think that the Patriots are going to make a big run at Peppers because he would solve a big problem that this team has. I asked Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston.com if he thought they would go hard after Peppers and this was his answer "Would be very surprised if the Patriots make a big play for Peppers. More pressing issues to take care of on their own roster." I do not agree with Mike, I think there going to go very hard at Peppers because they badly need a pass rusher, and this is there opportunity to get a great one. So Pats fans we will have to wait and see what this off season has in store for us.

A Big Win For The Black & Gold

Last nights win against the Sabres was a big win for the Bruins. After last nights win the Bruins are in ninth place with sixty one points in the eastern conference. Even though the Bruins just ended a ten game losing streak on Sunday they are still in the playoff race. Also you can start to see that the Bruins are playing with a lot more confidence, which was a big reason why they weren't playing well before. If the Bruins continue to play like these last two games they will have no problem getting into the playoffs but how far they go into the playoffs depends on who they are playing. Lets all hope the Back & Gold stay on this winning streak, and start to play the way we know they can play.

Tom Terrific

Tom Brady could be getting is big paycheck soon. Tom has a three million dollar signing bonus that is he is planning on getting in early march. That being said the Patriots don't want to pay the bonus and then sign Tom to his extension, so expect Brady and the Patriots to start talking in a couple of weeks. I am hearing the Patriots are going to make Brady one of the highest played players in the NFL, the deal is expected to be between fifteen and eighteen million dollars a year.

Celtics Rumor

Glen Davis could have played his last game at the garden on Sunday. I have heard that the Celtics and the Bobcats are talking about a potential deal that would send Glen Davis to the Bobcats for D.J. Augustin. But the deal is not imminent, the teams are just talking right now. So they still need to figure out some details to make this trade happen. If this trade does end up working out I will like it because I am getting tired of Glen Davis, he needs to grow up, and the Celtics need a backup point guard who can come of the bench.

The Latest

What a week it has been for New England sports fans. There has been a lot going on between the Super Bowl, Bruins, and Celtics. But it hasn't been the best week for us fans, so lets talk about it.

The Super Bowl: Who Dat? That's right the Saints are, when they pulled off the upset when they beat the Colts. This is probably one of the few good things that happened for New England sports fans this week. Going into the game I was cheering hard for the Saints but I thought the Colts were going to win by the way Peyton Manning was playing, I am so glad I was wrong. The turning point of the game was when the Saints recovered the on-side kick right after halftime. That call to go for the on-side kick was kind of similar to the fourth and two call, when Bill Belichick decided to go for it. If the Saints recover the ball, Sean Payton looks like an idiot, but since they did recover the kick he looks like a genius. Later in the fourth quarter came the best play of the game when the Saints were up twenty four to seventeen and the colts were marching, Peyton Manning went to throw the ball and it and got picked off by Tracy Porter who ran it back for a seventy three yard touchdown, to put the final nail in the coffin.

The Bruins: Underachievers. That's the only word I can say about the Bruins at this point. I know they haven't been healthy all of this year, but still, to be in ninth place in the eastern conference is not at all what I expected of them coming into the season. Also not to mention that they just snapped a ten game losing streak on Sunday, when they beat The Canadians. Peter Chiarelli needs to make a trade before the season is gone, I blame him a little bit for the ten game losing streak, because he didn't make a trade. Hopefully the Bruins can get their act together and go on a long winning streak to save their season.

The Celtics: Another tough loss yesterday afternoon for the Celtics against the Magic. The Celtics are not playing great this year either. Like the Bruins they too have also been injured a lot, but they are healthy now and continue to lose big games. Coming into the season people were saying the Celtics could win seventy two games and be one of the best teams in NBA history. At the start of the season they were playing great and I started to believe they had chance to win seventy two games. Now the Celtics record is thirty two and seventeen and sometimes I think maybe the Celtics just are not that good of a team. I hope I am wrong and I hope when they come out the all star break they go on a long wining streak, and prove me wrong.
